You can access the package management via the menu in the admin panel under Configuration → Packages → Packages. You can use it to manage, update, uninstall and install new packages.
In the WoltLab Cloud the authentication code is already preconfigured by default.
With the authentication code it is possible to query the list of purchased products via the package servers. This ensures, for example, that no updates are offered to which you do not have access. In addition, the authentication code helps you to select the appropriate package server during the automatic update if several package servers offer the same update. This can be the case, for example, if you use third-party plugins.
For the actual installation of updates it is still mandatory to enter the corresponding credentials for the package servers. It is therefore safe if other users (for example the Co-Admin) can view the authentication code.
You can find your authentication code in the WoltLab customer area under licenses by clicking the button Show Credentials and Serial Number.
Package Server Credentials#
In the WoltLab Cloud the appropriate credentials for the package servers are already preconfigured.
When installing updates of paid packages or installing paid plugins, you will be asked for credentials to confirm that you have purchased the packages. The credentials can either be stored permanently via the management of the package servers under Configuration → Packages → Package Server or can only be entered if required for updates or installations. The latter is recommended if other users (for example the Co-Admin) have access to the management of the package servers but should not have access to the credentials.
For the package servers
http://update.woltlab.com you need the license and serial number of your purchased license.
You can find these in the WoltLab customer area under licenses by clicking the button Show Credentials and Serial Number.
For the package servers
http://store.woltlab.com you need the credentials for your WoltLab customer account consisting of username and password.
For third-party package servers please contact the respective provider to find out which credentials are required.
To do this, log in to the admin panel and go to Configuration → Packages → Packages and click on the button Install Package.
Enter a search term to search the list of known packages. Click the + in the results and follow the instructions of the installation wizard to install a package.
If it is a paid package, it must first be purchased from our online store, the plugin store or the third-party store.
This function is not available in the WoltLab Cloud. Instead, use the above mentioned option to search for packages and install them directly.
If you have downloaded the file of a package for example from the WoltLab customer area or from the plugin store, you can alternatively install the package by uploading it.
To do this, go to Configuration → Packages → Packages in the admin panel and click on the button Install Package. On the following page click on the button Upload Package, select the file of the package from your local computer and click on Submit to upload the package and start the installation.
To uninstall a package, go to Configuration → Packages → Packages in the admin panel and click on the × next to the package you want to uninstall.
For some packages the × is grayed out. These packages cannot be uninstalled because there are other installed packages that depend on these packages. To find out which packages are dependent, click on the name of a package and go to Dependencies → Dependent Packages on the following page.
This function is not available in the WoltLab Cloud. Updates are automatically installed in the WoltLab Cloud, you don't have to do anything.
Minor updates (bug fixes and security updates) can be easily installed via the admin panel. To do so, go to Configuration → Packages → Packages in the admin panel, click on the button Search for Updates and then select all available updates.
